She's on the move!

Our jobs as parents just got harder....Kendal is on the move! She gets herself on all fours, rocks back and forth, but hasn't crawled yet. She is close, but hasn't done it yet. What she does do is army crawl. Like father, like daughter! When she sees something she wants she goes for it...and she is fast!. She loves to get her hands on everything she can. The days of sitting her on my bed with pillows all around her while I took a shower are gone!

I tried to post a video of her crawling, but for some reason it isn't working. You all will need to stop by and see her in action for yourselves!

Fun at the park!

Today I took the kids to the park. We brought our lunch and stayed for a couple of hours. Colin brought his bike and sand toys and had a blast. Kendal took a ride on the swings and loved it. We had such a wonderful day!

Daddy's Helper

Kendal is getting really close to pulling herself up, so Brian and I thought we better lower the crib. We didn't want her first successful try of pulling herself up be while she was in the crib and fall out. That would not be good. Brian was lowering the crib and Colin had to help. It was so cute because he would use Brian's tools and he kept saying he had work to do. You can never have to many handymen in the house.

Preschool

September 16th was Colin's first day of preschool!!! The first day was a short day and parents were allowed to come to help the kids feel comfortable with their new school. Colin did great! Probably the most difficult part of the whole process was trying to get a picture of him before we left for school. He was very excited so he did not want to pose for a picture. We were able to get a few photos, but it took some work. Once we were at the school he got to meet his other classmates. There are only 8 kids in his class. He played, did an art project, had a snack and had a bible story. Colin was a little shy at first, but warmed up pretty fast. When we leaving I asked him how his first day went and he told me he had a great day. I don't think you can get any better than that!

Big Boy Bike

Colin had a tricycle that he loved to ride, but Brian thought it was time that he graduated to a big boy bike. One evening after work, him and Colin headed to REI and they found him a new bike. He loves riding it and wants to ride it all the time. The next morning after getting the bike, he woke up and the first thing he wanted to do was ride his bike. With his pjs on, he rode the bike! He is already saying that he needs some jumps that he can ride off of. His big trick right now is that he can ride standing up. The other day he even insisted that we take the training wheels off. Brian took them off, and then he complained that it was hard to ride the bike. We told him that's why he needs to keep his trainig wheels on so he can practice some more. The training wheels were put back on after about 10 minutes of having them off. However at the rate he is going he will have those training wheels off before we know it!

Train Ride

Colin absolutely loves trains, so Brian and I decided to take him for a ride on the max. We drove to Beaverton Transit Center, parked our car and rode the max into downtown. We walked around a bit, had lunch and rode back. Colin had a wonderful time. Kendal loved people watching. I think this is an activity that we will have to do again.

Getting big!

Kendal is doing pretty good on eating solid foods. She is starting to get the hang of it. Probably her favorite food is yogurt...absolutely loves the stuff! Here are some photos of her eating yams the other night. I love how it gets all over their face! Another milestone for her is that she is sitting up by herself. She has been doing this for the last couple of weeks. It is so much easier for her to play now that she is upright. Just yesterday she even tried to pull herself up...she wasn't successful, but I know she will be doing it before we know it! P.S please ignore me talking on the video....I always sound like such an idiot!

Drill Weekend

Two weekends ago, Brian had his first drill weekend since the deployment. Before the deployment Brian use to drill over in Bend. So once a month (or sometimes more) he would drive over to Bend. Three hours there, three hours back. There was lots and lots of driving going on. Now that the deployment is over (yippee!) Brian's new assignment with the Guards is to be the Commander of the Lebanon unit. We are all so proud of him that he has been chosen to do this. The position usually lasts for about two years and then he will be re-assigned to another job within the brigade. But for now the next two years he will be drilling in Lebanon, which will be so much closer!! I anticipate that while he has drill we will all head down as a family and spend time with both sets of grandparents....either in Lebanon or in Albany. And we will probably get to see Brian in the evening after he is done with the day. I'm so excited! Here are a few photos while we were down there a couple of weekends ago. We celebrated Sydney's birthday, got to visit with the great-grandparents, Colin and Syd played in the pool since it was so warm and then we headed to the ceremony of Brian taking over as commander. It was a great weekend and I look forward to more of them.

Bath Time!

Almost every night before bed, Kendal gets a bath. She absolutely loves splashing around in the water! Now that she can sit up on her own it makes it a lot easier for her to splash around. Here are a few photos of our water baby.
